What’s included/Attractions in Abu Dhabi’s Shiekh Zayed Grand Mosque?
- Islamic call to prayer, or “minaret,” is the Arabic name for “minaret” (the lighthouse)
- The white marble used to cover the minarets creates a sense of unity with the rest of the architecture.
- At the top of the mosque are six minarets that seem like Ottoman minarets because of their cylindrical bodies (polygons) and conical heads.
- Each of the main prayer hall’s four minarets, each measuring 100 meters in height and including three balconies.
- The mosque includes two 89-meter-tall towers on the corners of the courtyard, each with two balconies.
- The mosque has a total size of 38,580 square meters and can accommodate 28 thousand worshipers, 2,500 of them are women.
- The mosque’s largest prayer hall can hold up to 11,840 worshipers.
- During special religious festivals and rituals, such as Eid prayers, Ramadan’s Tarawih and Tahajjud, and Friday prayers, the hall fills to capacity with worshipers.
- Lighting fixtures (chandeliers and pendants) comprise 485 of the total. This includes 130 inside and 355 outside.
- Four chandeliers from Qatar hang from the mosque’s main prayer hall’s ceiling. In addition to the five chandeliers at the main entrance, each measuring 180 cm in diameter and 290 cm in height, and weighing seven tonnes, the interior also features fifty wall lighting units.
- Fujairah’s Sheikh Zayed Mosque stands out from the rest of the qibla wall by its mihrab.
