Walkathon in Abu Dhabi

To promote yoga, and fitness, support healthy living, and increase awareness of the value of regular physical activity in Abu Dhabi, more than 100 women participated in a 4 km relay walkathon.

The Science India Forum and the Musaffah Art Society’s Bani Yas chapter organized the walkathon challenge. It is part of a schedule of activities leading up to International Yoga Day, which will be celebrated on June 21.

According to the organizers, participants in the walkathon challenges were divided into six teams, and the relay featured thrilling competitions.

A children’s painting contest and a weight loss challenge will thereafter take place at Ahalia Hospital. On June 17, there will be a sizable event at Bright Riders School before International Yoga Day.

Radhika Movvar, a clinical dietician at Ahalia Hospital in Musaffah, officially started the walkathon. She stated that such events successfully raised community awareness of health issues.

“I am very happy to be a part of it. Healthy and balanced diet along with physical activity helps in overall physical and mental wellbeing. Incorporating 30 minutes of walking in daily routine gives a lot of health benefits by improving heart’s health, weight loss, good sleep and many more. Let this International Yoga Day bring a lot of health benefits for everyone’s lives,” Movvar said.

Science India Forum and Musaffah Art Society have held regular community activities, including ones involving students and other charitable endeavors.
