Obtaining a Death Certificate

Reporting Death

• If death is unnatural or outside hospital, contact the police at 999.
• If a UAE National dies abroad, you can contact one of Abu Dhabi morgues or the operations room in Department of Health on 024193666 / 025048500, or report personally to the morgue with the required documents to complete the death procedures.

Required Documents

• Passport or Emirates ID (original)
• Family book (original)
• Birth certificate (if the deceased was a stillborn and there is no other official identification document available)
• Official identification document proving the identity of the recipient

Fees

• 50 AED for issuance of original death certificate
• 50 AED for additional or replacement copies
