Flying Electric Taxi to Abu Dhabi International Airport: Know more

Soon, commuters will be able to fly into Abu Dhabi International Airport from far locations and then take a flying electric taxi home. Abu Dhabi Airports has inked a memorandum of understanding with top French company Groupe ADP to examine the possibilities of a novel approach to air travel that uses electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) planes to transfer passengers and cargo.

Following consultation with stakeholders, a feasibility study, and market analysis to create the roadmap, Abu Dhabi Airports and Groupe ADP will collaborate to plan, build, develop, and manage Abu Dhabi’s ground infrastructure for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM).

Both parties will collaborate on the creation of eVTOL aircraft, which can transport both people and cargo.

“We are excited to partner with industry-leading group ADP to explore the potential of introducing AAM to Abu Dhabi,” Jamal Salem Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports told Arabian Business. “This new system integrates flight technologies with transformational aircraft designs which utilize electric power to hover, take off, and land vertically, enabling sustainability in air transport for both passengers and cargo.”

Group ADP, which maintains a network of 29 airports worldwide and is active in 125 airports across 50 countries, is the organization responsible for the development of the three Paris airports, Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Paris-Orly, and Paris-Le Bourget.

“With our hands-on experience in the Paris region today, and our deep understanding of the industry, its infrastructure, and operational challenges, we will be supporting Abu Dhabi Airports in laying the ground for AAM service implementation in Abu Dhabi.
