Why did Etihad Airways cancel the flight between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv?
Flight EY595 from Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport (AUH) to Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV) was canceled on August 6 due to ‘operational reasons’. Flight Y596 from Tel Aviv to Abu Dhabi on the same day has also been cancelled.

- “Customers booked on EY 595/596 have been re-accommodated by connecting on the other daytime service between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Tel Aviv EY 593/594.”
- The Abu Dhabi-based airline said it had combined the two flights to Tel Aviv. Therefore, all booked passengers will be accommodated accordingly.
This comes as regional tensions between Israel and Hezbollah escalate, leading many airlines to avoid Iranian and Lebanese airspace and cancel flights to Israel and Lebanon. The heightened concerns follow the killing of senior members of Hamas and Hezbollah and fears of a potential conflict in the region.
Emirates’ flights to Tel Aviv have been suspended since November 2023, following the cancellation of all flights to the region due to escalating tensions between Israel and Gaza.
Customers with a connection to Tel Aviv will not be accepted for travel on Emirates flights at the point of arrival until further notice,” the airline said.
