Expected new attractions in 2024:
Abu Dhabi is set to open a range of exciting new attractions in 2024. Some of the highly expected projects include Harry Potter, Warner Bros.World Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum, Guggenheim Museum, and Surf Abu Dhabi.
1. Harry Potter, Warner Bros.World Abu Dhabi:
Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi is set to open the first-ever Harry Potter-themed park in the Middle East. The park is expected to recreate iconic locations, including Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade, and Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Visitors can expect mind-boggling rides and attractions. The Harry Potter-themed land will be located in Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, one of the world’s largest indoor theme parks. The park is still under construction and is expected to open soon. It will be a must-visit for all ages.
2. Zayed National Museum:
The Zayed National Museum is a museum that is currently under construction in Abu Dhabi, UAE. It is designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect
Lord Norman Foster and is expected to open in 2024. The museum was originally scheduled to open in 2012, but its opening has been delayed several times and is now expected to open in 2025. The museum features galleries located within a mound whose shape is an abstraction of the Emirates’ geography, and above this are five lightweight steel structures that have been aerodynamically molded to serve as thermal chimneys. The museum aims to provide visitors with the values of the legacy of Sheikh Zayed and his lifelong achievements.
3. Surf Abu Dhabi:
Surf Abu Dhabi is an upcoming project set to open in early 2024 that is expected to be the world’s largest and most advanced artificial wave facility. It is designed in collaboration with pro-surfing legend Kelly Slater Wave Company. This innovative destination is designed to suit surfers of all skill levels.
4. Guggenheim Museum:
The Guggenheim is an art museum located on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi. The Guggenheim Museum Abu Dhabi, designed by renowned architect
Frank Gehry, is set to open in 2024. The museum is a collaboration between the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. The museum will span 450,000 square feet and be about 12 times the size of Guggenheim’s Frank Lloyd Wright building. It will be the largest of the four Guggenheim outposts, larger than even Guggenheim Bilbao. The museum has a collection of modern and contemporary art from the 20th and 21st centuries. The museum represents art history from places like India, Pakistan, Asia, and the Middle East. The museum
contains artwork from both local and international artists. These collections show the evolution of art across time. The museum is part of a $27 billion cultural and tourism initiative.
Abu Dhabi has also made significant progress in the area of sustainability in 2023. The city has launched several initiatives aimed at reducing its carbon footprint and promoting sustainable development. One such initiative is the Masdar City project, a sustainable urban development that aims to be carbon-neutral by 2025. The city has also made significant investments in renewable energy, with plans to increase its renewable energy capacity to 10 GW by 2030.
