Procedure to apply for Chinese Visa from Abu Dhabi, UAE
- Mail-in applications are not accepted by the Chinese Embassy in the United Arab Emirates. The applicants must personally appear at the Embassy, submit their applications through a recognized visa agency, or work with a public relations representative of their organization or business.
- Only UAE nationals and ex-pats who live in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain may apply for visas at the Chinese Embassy in the United Arab Emirates.
- Consular officials will decide whether to issue a visa or not as well as what kind of visa to issue based on the pertinent rules and regulations of China. Applications may be rejected without a thorough justification.
- It is advisable that you apply for a visa about a month before the date you plan to enter China. The applicant is accountable for any repercussions that arise from failing to submit a visa application on time, which could cause the issued visa to expire or make it impossible to obtain a visa in time for the specified entrance date.

Types of Visa
1. L Visa (Tourist Visa)
- A written document from the employer that states the applicant’s full name, nationality, passport number, position, income, the reason for the visit, etc., and is signed and stamped as an employment letter or a letter of no objection. Or, if you’re self-employed, a copy of the trade license.
- If the consulate personnel so request, a copy of the round-trip airline ticket, hotel reservation, invitation letter, and personal bank statement.
2. F Visa (Business/Visit Visa)
- a letter of invitation from a Chinese government, organization, or business that is significant.

3. X Visa (Student Visa)
- Original Admission Notice from the Chinese college or university, which ought to be signed and stamped.
- Original Visa Application Notice (JW201/JW202), which should have been endorsed and stamped by the provincial office of foreign affairs of China’s home province.
- Original medical report from a public hospital in the United Arab Emirates that complies with the standards of the university or institution in China.
4. C Visa (Crewmember Visa)
- In accordance with the agreement reached between the governments of China and the United Arab Emirates, crew members of U.A.E. airlines are granted visa-free entry into China for up to 30 days if they are on a routine flight mission.
5. D Visa (Residence Visa)
- Original letter of confirmation for permanent residence from the People’s Republic of China’s Ministry of Public Security.
- Original clearance certificate from the police department in your area, as well as your health certificate, both of which needed to be legalized/attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
6. G Visa (Transit Visa)
- If a visitor transits via China to another destination country directly (i.e., has a valid visa for the destination country, is a citizen of the destination country, stays for less than 24 hours, and does not leave the airport), no G/Transit Visa is needed.
7. J-1 Visa (Journalist Visa)
- If a foreign media outlet that already has a presence in China wants to send a resident correspondent there, it must first submit a written request to the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s Information Department, either directly or through the local Chinese embassy or consulate.
- In order to deploy the same reporter to work for multiple foreign media outlets in China, they must each go through the aforementioned steps independently and specify in their applications which position the reporter would concurrently hold.
8. J-2 Visa (Journalist Visa)
- An invitation letter from the interviewee
- If the reporter plans to carry their own reporting equipment into China, they must submit a completed Equipment Declaration Form.
9. Z Visa (Work Visa)
- The original notice of a visa application from the Chinese province’s office of foreign affairs.
- Original general health examination report from a UAE public hospital.
