What’s New: Dome Access Experience?
Visitors can now explore the museum’s legendary dome through a newly introduced architectural experience, offering deeper insight into its design, structure, and cultural inspiration.

- Dome access is available until midnight, with last entry around 11pm
- The outdoor dome plaza often remains open even after galleries close
- In some cases, evening access to the dome is free when galleries are closed

Why the Dome Is So Special?
Designed by renowned architect Jean Nouvel, the dome is a global icon:
- Made up of thousands of intricate geometric patterns
- Creates the famous “rain of light” effect
- Inspired by traditional Arabic architecture and palm trees
- Helps regulate temperature by providing natural shade

What’s included in Louvre Museum Abu Dhabi
- In partnership with Richard Mille, a Swiss watchmaker, we have developed an annual exhibition and art prize that highlights the exceptional contemporary art scene of UAE and GCC.
- When it comes to GCC artists, we’d like to hear from you. The theme for this year’s exhibition is ‘Iconic’ and we’d want you to submit a proposal.
- Read our 2022 call for proposals first. It contains all the information you need to apply. Finally, submit your application by completing the online form and enclosing the necessary supporting documentation.
- There were 167 new pieces added to the permanent collection in 2020, including works by artists including Vasily Kandinsky, Claude Monet, Jackson Pollock, Edouard Vuillard, and Johannes Vermeer, who generously loaned their works to the museum.
- Each year, the Louvre Abu Dhabi presents four major special exhibitions in partnership with our renowned French museum partners, which comprise masterpieces from their permanent collections.
- It’s great for families with children between the ages of 4 and 10, and it’s free for youngsters under the age of 12.

Explore the Children’s Museum’s interactive exhibits to learn about how clothing has been utilized by artists throughout history to tell stories about their subjects.
Short videos called “Mindful Art Moments” use grounding exercises to help viewers relax and contemplate a work of art in our collection in a more contemplative manner.
