Procedure to apply for Indian Visa from Abu Dhabi, UAE
- Visa applications are accepted at BLS centers in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and the Northern Emirates. If you need assistance, please arrange an appointment online Northern Emirates Visa applicants can walk into their local BLS center.
- Passport applications that require police verification are forwarded to police authorities in India for verification and are only completed after gaining approval from the police. This could take anywhere from 5 working days to 2 weeks. Tatkaal applications are processed within two working days after receipt.

Documents Required
- Two recent photographs.
- It is critical that candidates enter their personal information exactly as it appears on their passports. Any mismatch in any of the personal details will result in the application being rejected.
- When applying for a visa, the passport must be valid for at least six months.
- The passport must contain at least two blank pages and cannot be tampered with in any way.
- All applicants applying for a five-year visa are required to be present at the time of application submission at the Visa Application Center for biometric capture.

- The minimum processing period for an Indian visa is now five business days.
Types of visa
1. Visa on arrival
- Nationals of Japan, the Republic of Korea (South Korea), and the United Arab Emirates can obtain a Visa on Arrival (VoA). Subject to the conditions indicated, the VoA shall be valid for entry and stay in India for the duration of its validity.
2. Visa for Diplomatic / Official / UN Passports
- Applications can also be deposited by the applicant’s authorized representative.
3. Tourist visa
- A tourist visa shall be given only to a foreigner who does not have a residence or occupation in India and whose sole reason for entering India is for enjoyment, sightseeing, or a casual visit. Other activities are not permitted on a Tourist Visa.
4. Business Visa
- A business visa is issued to a foreign national who wishes to visit India in order to create an industrial/business enterprise or to investigate the possibility of establishing an industrial/business venture or purchasing/selling industrial items in India.
5. Transit visa
- Transit visas are provided for a maximum of 15 days with single/double entry privileges to genuine transit passengers exclusively traveling through India.
6. Medical / Medical Attendant Visa
- Attendant/family members of the patient traveling to India for medical treatment will be awarded a Medical Attendant visa, which will run concurrently with the patient’s ‘Medical Visa.’ This type of visa may be issued to the patient’s spouse/children or blood relatives.
7. Student Visa
- Foreign students are permitted to study in India’s accredited graduate and postgraduate medical, paramedical, engineering, and technical institutes. Foreign students who want to study in India on a regular basis should apply for a Student Visa.
8. Employment visas
- Employment visas are granted to talented and competent professionals or individuals who are employed or appointed by businesses, organizations, and economic ventures as technicians, technical experts, senior executives, and so on.
9. Journalist visa
- Journalist visas are granted to professional journalists and photographers for stays of up to three months in India. Foreign journalists visiting India for other reasons, such as conference attendance or tourism, should also apply for a ‘J’ Visa.
10. Conference visa
- A conference visa is typically provided for the purpose of attending conferences, seminars, or workshops. In addition to attending the conference, the duration of the visa sought may include time for tourism/sightseeing in India.
